One of the things consumers don't always see when choosing a real estate agent is what exists behind that agent.
A brokerage can simply provide a place to hang a license.
Or it can provide experience, leadership, systems, education and other professionals an agent can turn to when a transaction becomes complicated.
At NextHome Central Real Estate, we've deliberately tried to build the second type.
Jason Phillips and I have been business partners since the beginning of NextHome Central Real Estate.
Jason brings an MBA, entrepreneurial experience and extensive real estate leadership experience to the company. His public NextHome profile notes his service on the MLSOK Board of Directors, its Budget & Finance Committee and the Rose State College Foundation Board.
Having an experienced broker and business operator involved in the company gives our agents another resource when they're navigating contracts, negotiations or unusual situations.
Our Shawnee operation also benefits tremendously from Erika Jones.
Erika's professional background is unusual in residential real estate because she has spent more than two decades working as a real estate appraiser in addition to her work as a REALTOR® and broker. Her NextHome profile says she has more than 23 years of appraisal experience and has also been one of the brokerage's leading producers.
That perspective can be extremely valuable.
Pricing a home, analyzing comparable sales and understanding how an appraiser may view a property are important parts of real estate that go far beyond putting a sign in the yard.
Our brokerage includes agents working across different communities and property types.
That is intentional.
Central Oklahoma isn't one homogeneous real estate market.
Selling acreage outside Shawnee can require a completely different skill set than selling a house in Oklahoma City.
New construction is different from an older resale home.
Land is different from a subdivision property.
Investment property introduces another set of considerations entirely.
Instead of pretending one person is an expert at everything, I believe a strong brokerage should surround its agents and clients with people who have different experience.
As a co-owner, I spend a significant amount of time helping build the infrastructure behind the agents.
That can mean discussing a difficult negotiation, reviewing a transaction issue, developing training, testing technology, analyzing marketing strategies or simply helping an agent think through a situation they haven't encountered before.
Those things don't always appear next to someone's name on a real estate portal.
But they matter to the consumer.
When you hire a great agent who is backed by a strong brokerage, you aren't simply hiring one individual.
You're benefiting from the experience surrounding that individual as well.
That's the type of company Jason and I have tried to build at NextHome Central Real Estate.
Robert Gideon II is a Central Oklahoma real estate broker and co-owner of NextHome Central Real Estate, serving buyers and sellers throughout Oklahoma City, Shawnee and surrounding communities.
